Gwyneth Paltrow is adamant she did not come up with the phrase “conscious uncoupling” when announcing her separation from Coldplay musician Chris Martin.
The actress confirmed she and Martin were separating after more than a decade of marriage last year in a blog post titled Conscious Uncoupling on her lifestyle website Goop.com.
Paltrow insists it was not her but Goop’s editorial director Elise Loehnen who was responsible for the title, telling Fast Company magazine, “When I announced that I was separating on the website, (Loehnen) titled the piece ‘Conscious Uncoupling,’ and I had no idea.”
However, Paltrow stands by the term and calmed her staff down over the backlash, adding, “When something like that happens, I think everybody is like, ‘Oh, s—’… I just tell them that I think we are creating interesting discussions.”
Paltrow filed for divorce from Martin in April. They have two children, Apple and Moses.
The actress is currently dating “Glee” co-creator Brad Falchuk.
